World Cup T20: India’s dream run ends!

Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team bows out in the semifinal of the World Cup T20 after suffering an eight-wicket loss to the former champions England.

India elected to bat first on the surface that was not really a batter-friendly. A major shock came in when India decided to go in without Mithali Raj, their most experienced player and stayed with Anuja Patil.

Taniya Bhatia and Smriti Mandhana opened the innings, added an important partnership of 43. Both the openers fell quickly and India was reduced to 89/2. While the team was looking good for a decent total, India lost quick wickets, finished with only 112 on the board.

In return, India added the pressure early on by picking up two wickets. A dropped chance for Sciver proved costly as she along with Jones remained unbeaten to take the team to the finals where they will beat their old rivals Australia.
