Sameera Reddy who became overnight sensation through Kollywood’s Varanam Aayiram went on to act in a lot of movies across different languages.
However, the actress was missing from action ever since she married businessman Akshai Varde in 2014 and bid goodbye to acting. The couple had a son in 2015, and now, the actress is pregnant with her second child.
Recently, Sameera was in news for her bold statements on online trolling and body shaming. Now, she has again turned a lot of heads with her latest comments about the industry.
In an interview to a leading website, Sameera was asked what is that one thing she would like to change in the cinema industry. The actress said, “One thing that needs to change in the industry is expectations from women. I think there have been a lot of instances where I have been approached in inappropriate ways. Women should be looked at as much more than objects of glamour. We have a lot more to offer (sic).”
She also said, “This is one thing that will take a long time to change. I also feel that women and men are given a lot of unequal weight. And that’s just the way it is in the industry. One day, if we could change that, it would be good. And I think we are slowly taking baby steps towards that, little by little (sic).”
Sameera is currently looking forward to welcoming her second child with Akshai.
