New Zealand pair scores 43 runs in an over

Two New Zealand batsmen, Joe Carter and Brett Hampton of Northern Districts have combined to set a world record by hitting 43 runs from a single over in a match against Central Districts bowler Willem Ludick.

Aided by two no-balls, the pair hit six sixes, a four and a single from the South Africa-born medium pacer.

Before the over, Ludick gave only 42 runs and picked up a wicket in his nine overs. The pacer, who went into his 10th over, returned with the figures of 1-85.

The scoring went (with Hampton facing Ludick to start the over): 4, 6 (+1 for no ball), 6 (+1 for no ball), 6, 1, 6, 6, 6.

The duo put on 178 for the sixth wicket in 21 overs – a Northern Districts record for the sixth wicket against Central Districts, breaking the previous mark of 150 by BJ Watling and Peter McGlashan in 2011.
