Gayathri Raghuram took us all storm with her Bigg Boss stint and the dancer is currently working in A L Vijay’s Thalaivi.
She taught Kangana Ranaut to dance Bharatanatyam. “She is doing this style for the first time. I trained her on the basics of Bharathanatyam, but this number is semi-classical. She enjoyed the learning process. In Manikarnika, she had done a small portion with a sword and it was very masculine. But for this one, she has to portray it gracefully. She’s outstanding on-screen. This song, for instance, is based in a real-life situation, but the steps have been created by me. There are, what do I say, replica numbers, but this is an original song. GV Prakash has composed it. I think he does a fab job when it comes to classical songs. I choreographed the Pookal Pookum in Madrasapattinam, which is also classical of sorts,” she says.
Gayathri admits Thalaivi will be a memorable film in her career. “My mom and dad have worked with Amma and MGR. They used to assist Thangappan master. I feel happy to be working on a film that’s based on Amma’s life,” she signs off.
