Recently in a press event, Vairamuthu recalled how K Balachander changed his life by giving opportunities.
“After separated from a well-known music composer, I worked with thirty-seven music composers to beat him but sadly I couldn’t. On one fine day, I got a call from K Balachander who asked me to write songs for a debut music composer’s album. I went to the recording room, there was a small boy and I asked him, ‘Hey Dileep, you have now become a music composer?’. Yes, my success journey with AR Rahman started only through Balachander.” said Vairamuthu.
Though the lyricist didn’t mention the composer’s name, we all know that he was recalling his tough days after he got expelled from Ilaiyaraaja’s camp.
Vairamuthu, who is still going strong after #MeToo allegations (which he shouldn’t be) is yet to work with AR Rahman after the allegations. It will be interesting to see if AR Rahman gives him yet another opportunity as the music composer stood by the movement.
