In order to control the rapid spread of Coronavirus, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami said prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) will come into effect from 6pm on Tuesday and will end on March 31. Section 144 prohibits the assembly of five people and above in a public place.
The essential shops like Milk, Rice, groceries, vegetables, meat and fish will remain open, the Chief Minister said on Monday.
All private sectors have been instructed to let their employees work from home, excepting those involved in essential services like hospitals.
While Amma hotels will be running continuously, the other hotels can provide deliveries keeping the homeless and migrant workers in mind.
