Between Enthiran and 2 Point 0: Superstar’s movie choices

It has been eight years since Enthiran released and it took director Shankar three years to complete 2.0. Between then and now, here’s a look at Rajinikanth’s choice in films and how it has affected his career graph.

Kochadaiiyaan (2014)

After the dream run in the box office with Enthiran, Rajinikanth returned with Kochadaiiyaan. This movie marked the debut of Soundarya Rajinikanth as the director. This animated movie had Deepika Padukone as the female lead. Despite releasing in five languages, this movie bombed at the box office.

Lingaa (2014)

Directed by KS Ravikumar, Lingaa had Rajinikanth in a double role with Anushka Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha cast opposite him. This film too failed at the box office with critics trashing it as well.

Kabali (2016)

When people thought that they could write Rajinikanth off, Kabali’s first look and ‘Neruppu Da..’ did create a lot of expectations. It was Rajinikanth’s first collaboration with Pa. Ranjith.

This movie opened up to mixed reviews and the fans were little disappointed as this was not a typical Rajinikanth’s movie yet the movie became one of the top grossers in 2016.

Kaala (2018)

This was Rajinikanth’s second collaboration with Pa. Ranjith. The movie opened to mixed reviews and was appreciated for dealing with caste sensitively.
This movie will always be remembered for the way the women were portrayed, unlike normal commercial movies.

Petta (To be released)

During the audio launch of Kaala, Rajinikanth announced that his next movie would be with Karthik Subbaraj.

This movie is all set to release for Pongal and has some powerful actors like Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Trisha, Simran and a few more.
