Ever since the end of the first part, the hype for this movie was sky high, blame the cast, crew and the budget. Bankrolled by LYCA productions, Shankar really does reload not only Chitti but also our experience. With great expectation come great responsibility and not many directors can pull this off, but Shankar is a class apart.

Superstar Rajinikanth who plays Vaseegaran and Chitti and Akshay Kumar as the ‘crowman’ have delivered a commendable performance. Amy Jackson as Vaseegaran’s cute android plays a prominent role. In fact, every single actor has done their part well.

The movie starts on the familiar note, the rise of the negative force- All the cell phones in a particular city start to disappear all of a sudden- and since the Government and other forces have no idea how to stop it, the hero must save the day, thus reboot Chitti.

The VFX is the real hero here though. There are too many jaw-dropping scenes that keep us engaging, that is a visual delight. The years of hard work put in clearly seen. Nirav Shah, the cinematographer Nirav Shah deserves special applause as it adds weight to the movie; So does Antony’s cuts.

AR Rahman’s score falls in right places in the movie. Thanks to Resul Pookutty, The 4D sound is a big boon to 2.0.

The flashback sequence for Akshay Kumar and the pre-climax sequence stands out in the movie.

The movie does have a few flaws. The comparatively slow first half, the screenplay and most importantly, the dialogues, something that might disappoint Rajinikanth fans. Shankar misses Sujatha. Well, who doesn’t?

On the whole, 2.0 is a must-watch for the VFX and equally good performances. Do watch it in 3D to experience the magic.
